Rihanna is pop royalty and we’ve been obsessed with her music and her hair since forever. She’s super experimental and always changing up her look making her perfect for Hair History. Let’s take a look....
2003
After being discovered in Barbados Rihanna came to the US and was signed to Def Jam records by Jay Z. While promoting her first single Pon De Replay she went for these gorgeously long, honey toned locks.
2005
Promoting her first album SOS Rih rocked this swept back, half up half down look. We love the subtle highlights and darker roots.
2007
For the video of her majorly iconic song Umbrella, Rihanna chopped off her long hair and went for this super fierce, asymmetric bob.
2009
She went even shorter this year with a blunt chop and side swept bangs. We’re loving the warm blonde on her though and that clashing red lip.
2011
Rihanna dyed her hair bright red this year and went for a super long braid at the Met Gala. This shade is amazing and we’re obsessed with those extra long extensions.
2013
Collecting her 6th Grammy Award for the We Found Love music video Rih looked super pretty with these highlighted curls. The soft balayage was a major trend at the time and she pulled it off to perfection.
2015
At the Dior show in Paris (so jealous) she went for this gorgeous half up half down style. We love her jet black hair too and those effortlessly loose waves.
2016
In 2016 she started the biggest trend with this super blunt, short bob while keeping her hair super dark. Major 90s vibes…

We could not be more obsessed with this hair! Inspired by Studio 54, Rihanna rocked these full volume curls to the Grammys this year. She won Best Rap/Sung Performance for her collab with Kendrick Lamar on the song Loyalty.
