kieron-lavigne-hair-extensions-milk-and-blush-main We always have a little fan girl moment in the office when we see one of our fave hairstylists have used Milk + Blush hair extensions on a shoot. Their work is so inspiring and it’s cool to see how many different looks they can create using our sets. In our new series M+B Meets … we’re going to be sitting these guys down to get all the behind the scenes tips and tricks that you can incorporate into your everyday routine. If it’s good enough for models and celebrities, then it’s good enough for us right? Today's guest is one of our absolute favourites and has a celebrity client list that includes Sonam Kapoor, Thandie Newton and Naomie Harris. Kieron Lavine is our go to guy for glossy waves and has a keen eye for new trends and styles that has seen his work featured in some of the biggest fashion magazines such as Elle, Harpers Bazaar, Tatler and Dazed and Confused to name a few. Today he’s chatting to us on the biggest moments of his career, where he finds his inspiration and the pro tools he can’t live without… MB: We love your work! How did you get started in the industry? KL: I first started off by sweeping floors in a salon (I know it sounds very cliche) then worked my way up to a salon manager. Once I achieved that goal I got bored and wanted something a bit more creative. This is when I started to assist some of the top hairstylists in the industry. Kieron-Lavine-hairstylist-milk-and-blush-hair-extensions MB: Are there any pro tools in your kit that we could incorporate into our daily hair routines? KL: I'd have to say my Mason Pearson pintail comb and my soft toothbrush to tame little flyaway hairs. MB: What are your top tips for using M+B hair extensions? KL: It’s definitely all about getting the correct shade and making them look as blended and natural as possible. If you've got short hair and want it longer and fuller definitely use enough M+B to match the density of your own hair. MB: If you don’t have a lot of time to style a client’s hair what’s your go-to look? KL: This very easy, I'd say either a cute bun or a messy ponytail. MB: What do you think the biggest hair trends will be for the summer? KL: Hair trends are looking fun for this summer: dishevelled ponytails with hair jewels, wavy textured bobs - all round low maintenance do's. Kieron-Lavine-hairstylist-milk-and-blush-hair-extensions MB: How do you prep for a photoshoot? KL: By looking at the moodboard (if I haven't created my own) and packing my suitcase. MB: What do you think is the biggest mistake people make with their hair? KL: Using heated tools without heat protection, then asking me why their hair is breaking… MB: Where do you get your inspiration from? KL: Honestly I love people watching whether on tubes or trains - Londoners are very creative so I get my inspiration from the public... and I go to the museums from time to time. Kieron-Lavine-hairstylist-milk-and-blush-hair-extensions MB: You’ve worked with some huge names including L'Oreal, Patrick Demarchelier and Rankin, what’s been your biggest pinch me moment so far? KL: I've got to say it was probably meeting Patrick himself and the way he works. I know many people would probably fan out with actors or singers but I always think about the creative team behind those people. MB: How do you come up with ideas for editorial shoots? Is it a collaborative process? KL: It is a collaborative process, unless it's an idea I want in which case I'd organise my own shoot and gather together the team I like to work with. MB: Is there a celebrity you would love to work with that you haven’t yet? KL: I'm gonna say Rihanna, she's one for being very experimental but in a controlled way which I think is very much my style of work - her sense of style screams Kieron Lavine :) If you loved this interview and want some more professional tips than you should definitely check out our interview with celeb stylist Jake Gallagher and bridal hairstylist Kimberly Logie.
