dutch braids using milk + blush hair extensions

Milk + Blush Hair Extensions are a great way to create amazing hairstyles that may usually be out of reach using just your natural hair. This week I’m showing you guys how to create some super cute double Dutch braids using your Milk + Blush hair extensions. Dutch braids can be a little tricky to achieve with hair extensions, but if you follow this tutorial you’ll have Insta-worthy braids in no time.

Here at Milk + Blush HQ we love a good braid and since the Kardashians started rocking Dutch braids they’re absolutely everywhere and we’re obsessed. Using hair extensions for this look also helps to add that much needed thickness and length to achieve the ultimate double Dutch braids good enough to appear on any KUWTK ep.

What you’ll need:

  • Milk + Blush hair extensions (I usually opt for my Milk + Blush Quad Weft Set in the length 20-22” when creating Dutch braids, but you can opt for any of our sets depending on your own hair type and the kind of look you’re going for)

  • Comb

  • 2 section clips

  • 2 hair elastics

Method:

  • Part your hair in the centre and clip one side out of the way using a section clip

  • Create a diagonal part by running your finger behind your ear down towards the nape of your neck and clip the top section up

  • Use a comb to gently backcomb the hair at the root and clip in a 2-clip weft. (If you’re using the Classic Set I’d recommend using two 3-clip wefts at this point)

  • Next, take out the section clip holding the hair up and run your finger from your eyebrow down towards the nape of your neck to create another diagonal part

  • Backcomb again and clip in another 2-clip weft (or two 2 clip wefts if you’re using the Classic Set)

  • Repeat the same steps on the other side

  • Now all your wefts are clipped in, it’s time to start braiding! To create a dutch braid take a section of hair next to your part and split it into three

  • Cross the outside sections under the middle, then pick up and incorporate hair from the outside into these sections as you work your way down the hair trying to keep it as tight as possible as you go

  • Once you can’t incorporate any more hair continue with a three strand braid and secure the end with an elastic

  • Repeat on the other side

  • To finish, gently pinch and pull on the outsides of the braid to thicken them up even more
