If you’ve watched our super spooky mermaid tutorial then you’ll know that we’re pretty obsessed with Halloween and even more obsessed with glitter. It looks amazing in your parting and is so fun to experiment with even though it’s kind of a nightmare to remove. To fix the dilemma in time for this year’s festivities we thought we would do some research and find easy ways to get those little specks out of our strands. Turns out there are 4 amazing hacks that will make removing glitter from your hair really quick and easy. Let’s go, witches…

Prep

Putting up a barrier between your hair and the glitter is a really good place to start and dry shampoo is one of the best things to do this with. Just pick up a bottle in your hair shade and spray your roots heavily before applying it. This should help the glitter to sit on top of your hair rather than sticking at your roots which will make it way easier to remove.

The Hairspray Hack

If you’ve already washed your hair but there are still some flecks in your part then this is a good hack to use. Simply spray some tissue paper with hairspray, wait until it’s tacky and then blot the glitter to pick it up. It might take a few tries but it’s a really quick way to solve the problem.

Natural Oil

This isn’t going to be for everyone but natural oils like coconut or olive can be amazing at removing glitter. Just cover your hair, let it sink in for 10 minutes and then rinse it out. The oil should help to shift the specks and you can then shampoo and condition as normal.

Conditioner

Another quick hack is to saturate your hair with conditioner and then use a comb to work it down the lengths of your hair and off your strands. At the very least this will help to push it back away from your roots which is the hardest area to remove glitter from.
