Cruelty free haircare brands you probably haven't heard of…

cruelty-free-hair-care-brandsCruelty free is kind of a big deal right now - as it should be! Many brands are making the jump and changing their ways in order to get that little leaping bunny stamp of approval. We get that lots of you want to switch up your routine for some new products that fit this bill too. So this week we decided to search the Internet and find some haircare brands that are totally killing it while being completely cruelty free.

cruelty-free-haircareThe fun one // Amika

If Austin Powers is your favourite film you’re going to love this packaging. Indie brand Amika was founded in Brooklyn in 2007 and is all about self expression and rebelling against boring haircare! They’ve developed some seriously hardworking products and tools to supercharge your routine and give you super luscious locks. Their hero products are the Perk Up Dry Shampoo which repairs your hair while it works and the Nourishing Hair Mask which includes buckthorn berry and jojoba oil to replenish damaged locks.

Cruelty free haircare brands you probably haven't heard of…The cute one // Captain Blankenship

The mantra of this brand is “beauty wild with nature” and it delivers exactly that. The super cute packaging contains purely organic and harvested ingredients that are gentle, natural and luxurious. Their hero product is the Golden Waves Sea Salt Shimmer Spray which is a blend of sea salt, aloe vera, essential oils and gold mica to add lots of healthy shine. All the packaging is made of recyclable or reusable glass as well, making it environmentally friendly too.

Cruelty free haircare brands you probably haven't heard of…The super cool one // Reverie

Stylist Garett Markenson started this brand with his customers in mind and wanted to create something that was just as luxurious as it was natural. Reverie products are handcrafted in California and are both vegan and cruelty free. Their most loved products are the MILK Anti-Frizz Leave-In Nourishing Treatment, EVER Recovery Hair Oil and CAKE Restorative Scalp Tonic. This brand has had a lot of press for their gorgeously Instagrammable packaging too but just be aware that it’s a little on the pricey side.

cruelty-free-haircareThe 1 product wonder // S.OIL

This lightweight and fast absorbing oil was developed by celebrity hairstylist Jordan Blackmore and Niq Ellis who both wanted to make something free of harmful chemicals. S.oil oil promises to leave you with the strongest, shiniest and healthiest hair using nourishing ingredients such as coconut, jojoba and olive oil. The oil comes in three different scents Lavender, Vanilla & Bergamot, Sandalwood & Clove and Clove & Grapefruit.

The Pioneer of co-washing // UnWash

Co-washing has become a bit of a hair industry buzzword and it basically means skipping shampoo and washing your hair with conditioner only. This gives you a finish that’s similar to second day hair, not quite squeaky clean but not greasy either. UnWash is the pioneer of this trend and has developed a range of products around the concept. Their most hyped is the Bio Cleansing Conditioner which replaces your standard shampoo and conditioner routine. It’s a moisturising hair cleanser that gently removes dirt and oil while nourishing and strengthening your hair. This makes it really good for preserving colour too as the gentle formula won’t strip your hair. They also do a Dry Cleanser (shampoo) which has had rave reviews and features volcanic ash as its main ingredient.

We hope you love these cruelty free brands as much as we do and are totally inspired to try out some new products and explore their pages. If you have any of your own cruelty free hair care faves leave them in the comments below.
