Hair Trends for 2014

Hair Trends for 2014For most of us, a new year signifies a new you and the first step to making these changes is to undergo a makeover. Whether that’s reinventing our wardrobes, updating our beauty regimes or getting a new haircut, here’s our guide to the most popular hair trends for 2014.

Mermaid Waves

Mermaid Waves- Hair Trends for 2014One hair trend for 2014 which we are really excited about is mermaid waves. These bed-head-inspired waves were everywhere on the AW13 catwalks, from Calvin Klein to Diane Von Furstenberg, both making waves with dreamy, tousled curls. Although mermaid waves are not the hardest or most imaginative hairstyle for 2014, nevertheless they are definitely manageable and easy to achieve with a curling tong on those heavy, dark mornings- just what we like to hear!

Choppy Bobs

Choppy Bobs- Hair Trends for 2014Bobs made a comeback in the late summer of last year and are set to be an even bigger hair trend for 2014. What we love about a choppy bob is its minimal need for styling and how it instantly transforms your whole look, whilst giving a new lease of life to long, tired tresses.

The Undone Updo

Undone Updos- Hair Trends for 2014Here at Dirty Looks, we’re all partial to an effortless hairstyle, and the undone updo is the perfect lazy hair trend for 2014. Not only is it super easy to achieve, the unkept, undone updo can also look ultra chic and boho when paired with the coolest of clothing. We only have to look at the likes of Nicole Richie’s braided updo and Olivia Palermo’s easy bun to see why it works so well.

Side Swept Bangs

side swept bangs- hair trends for 2014Another hair trend for 2014 which we are coveting is side swept bangs. We were all over full fringes and blunt cuts in 2013 but this year, we’re giving a nod to boyish haircuts by sweeping our hair into a messy side parting and messing up our overgrown bangs, before pulling them to the side.

Slick Hair

Slick hair- hair trends for 2014One hair trend which doesn’t seem to be disappearing any time soon is slick hair. From wet look hair to 80s inspired, moussed up locks, the SS14 catwalks went crazy for slick hair, with the likes of Christian Dior and Emilio Pucci both relishing in slick hair and breathing a new life to last season’s hair trend.
